Certification Requirements

Certification Requirements for a MyHIA.org Broker / Agent

Our three levels of certification are described below.  Each succeding level builds upon the credentials and requirements of the lpreceeding level. If you can qualify for a higher level membership, then it benefits you to do so , as your certificatio level is prominently displayed on the site to verify your cerdentials.   

Associate Broker/Agent (ABA):

  1. Minimum of two years of experience with at least $500,000 in documented annual health care plan sales revenue.
  2. Licensed and in good standing in the state(s) indicated.
  3. Resident in the State.
  4. Bonded and E&O Liability Policy for $1,000,000 aggregate.
  5. Never convicted of Fraud... etc.
  6. Minimum of an Associate College Degree (May be waived with sufficient relevant experience).
  7. Letters of Recommendation

Certified Broker/Agent (CBA):

  1. All of the above plus
  2. Passed HMO Competency Test
  3. Passed PPO Competency Test
  4. Passed Indemnity Competency Test
  5. Passed proficiency tests on all policies offered
  6. Passed Test Comparing coverages in plans.

Certified Senior Associate:

  1. All of the above plus:
  2. 1. Minimum of 5 years experience or $2,000,000 in documented annualized sales revenue.
  3. 2. Completed Certification for UPSA (United Professional Sales Association certification program.
